Executives from rival German luxury brands will have choked on their morning coffees after hearing Lexus will price its CT 200h compact hatchback from $39,990.
Taking aim at vehicles like BMW’s 1-Series, CT 200h - the world’s first compact luxury hybrid - will be available in four model grades when it launches late next month.
And Lexus being Lexus, we can expect the comprehensively-equipped newcomer’s launch will be supported by an aggressive, high-profile marketing campaign (which already includes the celebrity race at the Australian Grand Prix).
The four grades will be called ‘Prestige’, ‘Luxury’, ‘F Sport’ and ‘Sports Luxury’.
Included in the list of equipment, all but the ‘Prestige’ variant will be equipped with reversing cameras.
And even though the starting price is below $40,000, all CT 200h buyers will receive the usual Lexus after sales VIP treatment including service loan cars, drop-off and collection.
CT 200h will come with a four-year warranty and eight-year warranty for the hybrid battery.
The full range is:
Lexus CT 200h Prestige $39,990
Lexus CT 200h Luxury $48,990
Lexus CT 200h F Sport $49,990
Lexus CT 200h Sports Luxury $55,990
